Our Mission & Strategy
to display and declare the gospel in every area of life
STRATEGY
The Gospel makes us a family on mission with God. The beauty of the gospel not only unites people together into a powerful and loving community, but it also gives our community a mission – to delight in, declare and display the gospel in every area of life. This means that our jobs, education, neighborhoods, and resources are tools and platforms to share the good news of Jesus. In other words, this gospel that saved us, is the same gospel that sends us on mission with God. Here at City on a Hill, we seek to be a church that is P. L. A. N. T. E. D. for the glory of God and the good of others.

Planting Community Groups & Churches
Planting Community Groups (CGs) & Churches
Being a gospel people means, we are saved to be sent.
Our vision is to see everyone, everywhere experience the gospel (Psalm 96:3; Matthew 28:19-20). We think this is best done through starting new community groups then new churches locally, nationally and globally. We develop and train community group leaders through our LEAD Fellowship and do the same for our church planters through our CoaH Networks’ Church Planting Residency in partnership with the North American Mission Board. We believe we should send our best so the gospel can be preached in the most least reached and unreached places.

Leadership Development
Leadership Development
Being a gospel people means, we build leaders to love others.
If we’re going to plant more churches and grow we need more leaders! We go out of our way to train new leaders who can then teach the gospel to others (2 Timothy 2:2). One way that City on a Hill develops leaders is through our CoaH Courses, Classes and Seminars. Our current offerings change regularly!

Adoption & Foster Care
Adoption & Foster Care
Being a gospel people means, we give our families and homes to children in need.
At City on a Hill Brighton, we seek to be an example of the rich mercy and great love that God has shown us (Ephesians 2:4) by supporting children and families involved in foster care and adoption. The scriptures tell us that true religion is to care for widows and orphans (James 1:27). As a result, our church makes it a priority to foster and/or adopt locally and globally. We seek to be trained, supported and partnered with adoptive and foster care services like the ones below to be adequately prepared to do this well. In addition, we need a team of volunteers fulfilling a variety of needs to practically assist these families and encourage them to not grow weary in doing good. Whatever your skill, there is a place for you to help!

Neighborhood Investment
Neighborhood Investment
Being a gospel people means, we seek the good of the city for the glory of God.
We seek to invest our time, talents, resources, service and gospel intentionality for the good of the city. We do this primarily through our community groups (CG’s). Each CG is devoted to caring for a part of our neighborhood in order to make disciples in the everyday rhythms of life – working, eating, listening, sharing, celebrating, and playing, all done to declare and display the gospel in our spheres of life. Then by God’s grace through this effort we will see Boston renewed as it once was, a City on a Hill – where God’s glory revealed in the gospel is experienced by all.

Taking Aid & Action
Taking Aid & Action
Being a gospel people means, we care for those in need.
Jesus cares for all people, but he is especially close to the poor, suffering, needy and oppressed (Luke 14:12-14). And he promises to one day return to restore justice to the world and repair all that is broken. While we wait for his return, we go out of our way to meet tangible needs and preach good news to those who are in need. Our church members love our city through hospitality, generous giving, local service, and advocating for the ‘least of these’ in the public square.

Evangelism
Evangelism
Being a gospel people means, we display and declare the gospel in every area of life.
We talk about the things we love. We believe that when our church is in awe of the gospel we can't help but to share this good news with our friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. Every member of City on a Hill is called to share this good news with those around them. This primarily happens organically through ordinary people doing ordinary things with gospel intentionality.

Discipleship
Discipleship
Being a gospel people means, we help others to increasingly know, enjoy and follow Jesus in every area of life.
The last commandment of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20) must be the first priority of the church. City on a Hill’s first priority is to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples of Jesus Christ. We do this through Corporate Worship Gatherings, Community Groups, CoaH Courses, Classes, Seminars and more.
